May violently polymerize under prolonged exposure to fire or heat, violently rupturing the container. Under prolonged exposure to fire or heat the containers may rupture violently and rocket. • MONOMER FOR POLYTETRAFLUOETHYLENE RESINS; CHEM INT FOR HEXAFLUOROPROPYLENE; COMONOMER FOR PERFLUOROALKOXY RESINS, FLUORINATED ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE RESINS, & ETHYLENE-TETRAFLUOROETHYLENE RESINS; TERMONOMER WITH VINYLIDENE FLUORIDE & HEXAFLUOROPROPYLENE
• Used as a copolymer with hexafluoropropylene to substitute for polytetrafluoroethylene
• It is used mainly for the production of fluoropolymers. It reacts with perfluoronitrosoalkanes to produce so-called nitroso rubbers. It is also used in the production of low molecular mass compounds and intermediates, for example, for the manufacture of iodoperfluoroalkanes.
• Principal industrial use of CF2:CF2 is for preparation of polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon (R)) Resins and copolymers.
