• Used as agricultural fungicide (mainly for potato blight); [Merck Index]
• Foliar fungicide with protective and curative action. Has contact and local systemic activity, and also inhibits sporulation.
• Systemic compound that shows curative protectant activity against oomycetes, notably grape downy mildew and potato late blight.
• Cymoxanil is produced by condensation of cyanoacetic acid with ethylurea in the presence of acetic anhydride; the resulting 2-cyano-Nethylcarbamoyl acetamide is converted to the hydroximino derivative, which is methylated with dimethyl sulfate.
